Anonymous Social Networking

An anonymous social network allows users to post and make connections with others without revealing their identity, in most cases users take the opportunity to publish content that my seem controversial or disputable and although it is questionable whether or not these networks are truly anonymous, this seems to be an issue that many people are unconcerned about.  Recently it was noticed that two new anonymous social networks are causing quite a rave. Whisper and Secret which came into being not more than a year ago are already having a great impact on the online world and have raised millions of dollars. The posts on these sites go beyond your idea of everyday petty gossip and have begun to negatively affect the tech world. Information posted on Secret recently caused a scandal and lead to the suspension of one of GitHub's founders. These sites not only tarnish the image of social networks but technology as a whole, they promote gossip, cyber bulling, violence and other forms of negativity that for obvious reasons will also have a negative impact on society. Despite its many cons anonymous social networks seem to be on its way to becoming the next big thing in social networking.
